VA Providence Healthcare System (Providence, RI) is seeking an academic cardiologist specializing in cardiovascular imaging. This position will work with the Division of Cardiology at Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School. The ideal candidate will have expertise in advanced cardiovascular imaging modalities such as echocardiography and cardiac MRI. This position provides an opportunity to excel in patient care, education, and research while contributing to a vibrant academic environment at VA Providence Healthcare System and Brown University Health. Applicants will be considered for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at Brown University, based on experience.
- Full-time, permanent appointment, work schedule, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- CME Reimbursement up to $1,100 per year

- Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): This position is eligible for the EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert care in cardiovascular imaging (e.g., echocardiography, cardiac MRI).
- Engage in both inpatient and outpatient clinical duties.
- Conduct impactful research and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Pursue funding opportunities for research.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
- Develop and deliver educational programs, including lectures and workshops.
- Participate in curriculum development and other educational initiatives.
- Contribute to section goals, strategic planning, and interdisciplinary committees to enhance clinical and research operations.
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice with substantial expertise in imaging.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring at all levels.
Requirements:
- US citizenship (while open to U.S. Citizens, non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
- M.D. or D.O.
- Board certification in Cardiology
- Full active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state.
- Completion of a residency training program in Cardiology.
